Cultural heritage is the spiritual home of human beings, the most direct embodiment of urban cultural individuality and historical context, as well as the great source for a city to develop. By reviewing the related concepts and current situation of cultural heritage, this paper explores the significance of cultural heritage in the development of a city. At the same time, taking Dunhuang city as an example, this paper systematically studies how to protect and inherit cultural heritage through the city as a space carrier under the background of unban renewal.
