分类卓越是当前我国英语专业发展应该遵循的基本方针。国内医学院校的英语专业在量上已经达到一定积累,但在质上亟待大力提升。卫生行业对医学英语有着相当需求,但医学英语的服务功能尚未得到充分体现。从实际出发,医学院校的英语专业需要在师资建设、课程体系、科研创新和管理制度上都要进行服务转型。认清医学院校英语专业的类别属性,以服务社会为抓手进行改革创新,是实现该专业卓越发展的根本路径。

In compliance with ＆quot;excellence in one category＆quot;,the rudimentary guideline for the development of English major in China,English for Medical Purpose （EMP）should turn to polishing educational quality when its popularity has reached a favorable level.According to our survey,there is a huge demand for EMP in the health field,but not met by the service EMP offers.Reforms to raise the service ability of EMP of medical universities and colleges should be implemented in teaching staff, curriculum,research innovation,and management mechanism.Making the category of EMP clear and enhancing its service ability are the road map to the excellence of EMP education.
