Notch signaling is essential for cell fate decisions, cellular development, differentiation, prolifera- tion, apoptosis, adhesion and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. Notch signaling plays a critical role during mammalian cardiogenesis, and is closely related to myocardial regeneration and repair. The mutations in the Notch signaling has been associated with human congenital heart diseases. Therefore, this review focuses on the progress of Notch signaling and its role in cardiac development, congenital heart disease and myocardial regeneration.
