At present, the nondestructive testing of large-scale stone relics, which is represented by rock paintings, is still at the stage of qualitative research and lack of quantitative analysis. A nondestructive testing technique for large-scale stone relics is introduced in this paper based on infrared thermal imaging and temperature field finite element simulation. Firstly, the heat conduction process of rock paintings is analyzed in terms of the theory of heat conduction, and the thermal model is established according to the actual situation of rock paintings; and then, the finite element software ANSYS is used to simulate the heat conduction process of seepage and drying stalactites. The simulation results show that it is effective to study the thermal image characteristics of large stone relics diseases by the means of finite element simulation. This study provides a valuable method for large stone relics disease detection and analysis.
