A simulation platform is built for designing the network-based ship course-keeping control system. The platform is developed with Visual Basic 6.0 which supports object-oriented programming and provides good tools for graphical inter- face development. The platform is checked by constructing a course-keeping control system for the training vessel ' YUKUN' , which features PID control law and internet communication. The test results illustrates the merit of the plat- form: simple operation and rational design with satisfactory performance.
