Based on the consideration on the factors of the impacts from the effect of seepage,the non-uniformity of the sediment composition,the interaction among sediments,etc.,which make the incipient motion of sediment has a randomicity,a stress analysis is made on the sediment on bank slope; i.e.a rolling balance mode is adopted to deduce a theoretical formula for the flow velocity of the incipient motion of sediment on bank slope,and then it is demonstrated with the measured data that the calculated data are relatively coincided with the measured ones.
