In this paper, we study how to teach probability and statistics for cultivating high-level applicationoriented talents in application-oriented undergraduate colleges. Teachers should change two traditional ideas： ＂emphasize theory, ignore applications＂ and ＂emphasize probability, ignore statistics＂. Simultaniously, more importance should be attached to phylogeny teaching, case teaching, mathematical modeling and experimental teaching.
