This article summarizes the concept and connotation of periphtic diatoms. Listing the main environmental factors which affect periphtic diatom growth include vegetation, temperature and nutrition elements, etc. And discussing about periphtic diatoms in the modern environmental manage- ment and application direction of the ancient lake research. Researching for periphtie diatoms weaknesses exist in the process, expanding some discussions, providing certain theoretical basis for the improvement of the periphtic diatom in the future research and development.
