According to statistics,due to the decline in precipitation and the significant shortage of water resources Wanquan County of Zhangjiakou in recent 10 years,groundwater exploitation increased.Irrigation is the basis of sustainable development of agriculture,which is of important significance in satisfying human life and protecting the sustainable utilization of limited groundwater resources.Through the comparison between the groundwater quantity and irrigation water use, the causes of shortage of groundwater resources and the importance of implementing sustainable development are analyzed.
