A prototype of the clock system for the LHAASO WCDA readout electronics is introduced, including the design principle of the prototype, the test setup and the test result. Based on the reduced and improved White Rabbit Project, the prototype mainly includes three parts: the clock source module, the clock transmitter module and the clock receiver module. The test result of the prototype shows that the clock skew between two channels on the clock receiver module can be adjusted to less than 80ps and the clock jitter is less than 40ps, which fulfills both the skew and the jitter requirement of less than lOOps for the LHAASO WCDA clock system.
