Industrial design concerning user refers to the function interface and appearance design of product, which is an important tool of realizing product diversification Selecting mobile industry as sample, this paper analyzes the role and trend of industrial design in technology evolution using utility model patent and design patent as surveying standard. The study shows, with the industrial technology evolution, industrial design increases gradually as well as other roles, which can effectively satisfy the diversification requirement of users for the function interface and appearance design.
