The mechanics, apparatus and polymer used in the fabrication of microspheres and microparticles by electrospraying are introduced. Electrospraying variables that have effect on microspheres forming and the application of the microspheres and particles are summarized. Variables that have influence on fabrication of polymer microspheres and particles in electrosraying include voltage of electric field, flow rate of polymer solution, concentration and con- ductivity of polymer solution. Polymers used in fabrication of microspheres or particles by electrospraying are poly-cap- rolactone, poly(lactic acid), poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid), polyphosphazene, poly (vinylpyrrolidone), chitosan, etc. They have many uses in investigation of encapsulating drug, protein, enzyme and other bioactive compounds.
