The paper criticized traditional GDP-oriented tourism development mode and analyzed the destructive effects tourism industry on natural environment, culture and society. The authors put forward nature-based ecotourism and advocated full exploitation of social and cultural values of tourism industry. As a result of detailed analyses,it concluded that ecological investment, protection of natural and cultural heritage and humanism tourism are required to develop social eco-environmental friendly tourism industry.
