Phenol-degrading microbes were isolated from rotting wood and polluted sludge. These strains were identi- fied as Acinetobacter sp. SD1, Pseudomonas sp. SD2 and Rhodococcus sp. SD3 according to their morphological feature and 16S rDNA sequence, respectively.The phenol-degrading performance ofRhodococcus sp. SD3 strain was best among three strains, which almost completely degraded 1.0 g/L phenol in 72 hours.
