In this paper, the application of some flame retardants for high density polyethylene （HDPE） such as aluminum-magnesium flame retardants, char forming or char accelerating flame retardants, and silicone flame retardants were introduced. The development directions of halogen-free flame retardant HDPE were pointed out.
