Lagerstroemia indica, one kind of landscape plants wiht high ornamental value, was affected by low temperature and this limits its application in the garden. From the cold resistance of Lagerstroemia indica, this paper summarizes the significance of the cold resistance research, research progress and breeding research of the cold resistance, and cold-resistant assessment method of Lagerstroemia indica. The cold-resistance molecular and breeding research of Lagerstroemia indica need to be strengthened, they will serve as the research focus.
