Adventitious roots are the bulk of the fibrous root system,it is playing an important role in supporting plants and uptake of nutrients and water in cereals. Here an overview on the recent research of adventitious root development was gave,and the morphology, physiological character, the initiation and development process of adventitious root were introduced. Meanwhile, the factors affecting adventitious root development of auxin signal, auxin transport, ethylene and cytokinin were summarized.
