Electronic chart is a kind of charts utilized by digital format describing navigational information and geographic information of maritime space. Developing status of ECDIS is summarized, structure and function of electronic charts are described and developing trend is predicted. Application of ECDIS in next few years is presented based on the principles of S-52 and S-57 as well.
