It has become the common responsibility for all countries in the world to respond to the global warming and to transit to a low carbon e- conomy. This article focused on market incentive policies aiming at low-carbon, such as carbon taxes, subsidies, carbon emission trading sys- tems, carbon finance and carbon tariffs. While closely following the latest progress in theoretical research and policy practice of foreign countries, the article reviewed and compared a variety of policies in details, covering wide range aspects including the theoretical basis for policy mecha- nisms, reasoning, effectiveness, cost-benefit analysis, and the latest fruits of research and practice and debates. Finally, a comprehensive com- ment and prospects were proposed accordingly.
