The genus Protaphelinus Mackauer （Hymenoptera： Aphelinidae） is recorded for the first time from China and Protaphelinus nikolskajae （Yasnosh） is redescribed in detail and illustrated by macrophotography. This is the parasitoid specifically associated with the gall-making aphid, Pemphigus borealis Tullgren （Aphidoidea： Pemphyidae） found on the poplar tree （Populus sp.） in Wudalianchi, Heilongjiang Province.
