Insulin-like growth factor-I is an important mediator of anabolism, mitosis and apoptosis of cell. IGF-I is expressed in organism of sows or gilts, and involved in development of embryo during early gestation. Concentration of IGF-I and expression of IGF-I mRNA are affected by levels of nutrition. In this article, the expressive characters of IGF-I and IGF-I mRNA in ovary, oviduct and uterus of sows or gilts are reviewed, and the nutritional regulation on their expression and possible mechanism are emphasized.
