A simple computer controlled automated parameter-optimized temperature system using an algorithm that optimizes the proportional integral differential(PID)parameters is described. The system uses a personal computer to read a temperature sensor and adjusts the output of a stable power supplier to achieve the temperature control. The PID parameters are automatically adjusted to optimum values, based on the response of the system. The system has been tested in an experimental setup and the temperature of the experimental stage for performing a surface adsorption experiment can be routinely controlled to a stability of ±0.01℃ at around room temperature.
