Microtubules (MTS) are the primary components and functional elements in cytoskeleton system. One of prominent features of MTS is their dynamics instability, which is the important guarantee for MTS to exercise a number of physiological functions. In addition, MTS layout, which is regulated by light, hormones and environmental stressors, plays the key role in many physiological processes such as cell mitosis, cell morphogenesis, hypocotyl growth and stomatal movement. The review mainly focuses on the dynamics instability of MTS and the regulation of MTS layout by light.
