A novel quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor prepared by dip-coating method using poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) solution with various concentrations to form sensitive layer on the electrode of QCM was investigated. The sensitive property of QCM sensor for dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP) as a nerve reagent simulant was characterized. It shows that the frequency of QCM changed when the electrode was exposed to DMMP gas, and there is a linear correlation between frequency change of QCM sensor and DMMP concentration. This result indicates that PVDF is a promising sensitive material for chemical warfare agent detection at room temperature.
