An autotrophic bacterium has been isolated from anaerobic sludge, which is able to reduce nitrate in wastewater producing nitrogen by using iron as the electron donor. The study of its 16S rDNA sequence, as is compared with the published data in the GenBank indicates that the BLAST level of similarity to Pseudornonas sp. HPC502 is as high as 99%.
