生成语法认为,儿童刺激贫乏和省时高效的语言习得事实显示,语言中的普遍原则部分是通过遗传获得的,特定语言的习得实际上是个设定参数的过程,因此,语言研究必须以经济原则为根本,满足解释、简化、自然、最优和可学5项原则。据此,高校英语专业语法教学应遵循经济原则,提高课堂教学的效率,从而解决当前高校英语课堂教学中的费时低效问题。
As is assumed in Generative Grammar, facts of stimulus -poverty and high efficiency in child language acquisition demonstrate that universal principles of language are biologically endowed, and that acquisition of a particular grammar is factually a parameter - setting process. Consequently, language research should be implemented on the basis of the principle of economy, satisfying principles of Explanatoriness, Simplicity, Naturalness, Optimality and Learnability. Enlightened by this basis, application of the teaching principles, methods, contents and techniques in grammar teaching for English majors should be conditioned by the principle of economy as well, to enhance the classroom teaching efficiency, to solve the contemporary problem of the time - consuming and inefficient classroom teaching of English in colleges and universities in mainland China.
