A parametric method for grid generation on free-form surfaces is studied. This method utilizes the characteristics of tensor product surfaces. Grids are generated by extracting and dividing isoparametric lines. The fundamentals for extracting isoparametric on B-spline surfaces are explained. The basic computational procedures for dividing an isoparametrie line (B-spline curve) and the procedures to generate grids from isoparametric lines are presented. Three examples deal- ing with free-form surfaces of distinct shapes are given to explain the flexible usage of this new method specifically. An application in engineering is introduced in the end to show the practicality and effectivity of the method. This new technology could generate even and aesthetic grids and could be applied to free-form lattice structures.
