The research progress of conducting fibers based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is reviewed.First,the synthesis of CNT fibers is introduced,including various ways to improve their electrical conductivity as well.Then different methods to fabricate highly conducting CNT/metal composite fibers are provided.The relationships between the fabrication parameters and the electrical,thermal,and mechanical properties of the composite fibers are discussed.The future development and applications of light-weight and highly conducting fibers are prospected.
