根据侧边抛磨光纤实验结果,建立了带抛磨过渡区侧边抛磨光纤的三维光学波导模型,用三维有限差分光束传输法计算和分析了侧边抛磨光纤的光传输特性。带抛磨过渡区光纤波导模型的计算结果与实验吻合较好,此模型较好地反映了在侧边抛磨光纤中的光功率传输特性。计算分析表明,侧边抛磨区的长度对侧边抛磨光纤光传输特性有影响,但在抛磨区长度小于一定数值时,传输损耗并不随抛磨区长度的增加而单调增加。侧边抛磨光纤中,传输光由于抛磨过渡区的存在,光功率的衰减随包层剩余厚度的变化关系不是单调的,存在多值现象。侧边抛磨区覆盖物折射率对光传输特性的影响较大,特别是对光衰减影响很大。侧边抛磨区覆盖物宽度和高度的变化也使光功率传输损耗呈振荡变化。
According to the experimental results of side polished fiber(SPF),a three dimensional optical waveguide model with longitudinal side polished transition zone was built.Based on the model,characteristics of optical transmission were calculated and analyzed by three dimensional finite differential beam propagation method.The model can describe the optical transmission characteristics because the calculation based on the model is fit well with the experiments.The calculation analysis shows that the length of side polished area affects the optical attenuation of optical fiber,but the attenuation does not monotonically increased with the length when the length is less than certain value.The relation between optical attenuation of SPF and the thickness of residual side polished cladding is not a monotonic one as well.The refractive index of overlay on the side polished area has much more effect on the optical attenuation.Both width and thickness of overlay on the side polished area cause the oscillated change of optical power attenuation in the fiber core.
