轻元素是大气颗粒物的主要组成部分,质子激发γ射线(PIGE)可以探测大气颗粒物中的轻元素,如Li、B、F、Na、Mg、Al、Si等,是质子激发X射线分析(PIXE)方法的一个良好补充。在中国科学院上海应用物理研究所核分析技术重点实验室的扫描质子微探针系统上实现了PIGE测量。利用PIGE对沙尘暴期间上海的PM10样品中轻元素进行了研究,实验发现聚碳酸酯膜可用于PIGE分析,石英膜和特氟龙膜因本底太高不适合PIGE测量,PIGE结果表明沙尘颗粒物中F、Na、Mg、Al、Si等元素的质量浓度增加很多。结果表明,PIGE是研究大气颗粒和沙尘暴轻元素有效的方法。
Proton induced λ-ray emission(PIGE) is sensitive for light element analysis and has been used for detection of low Z elements(such as Li,B,F,Na,Mg,Al,Si,etc.) in aerosol samples.It is commonly used as a complementary technique of proton induced X-ray emission(PIXE).The PIGE analysis of light elements in aerosol samples collected during a dust storm period in Shanghai was performed on the scanning proton microprobe(SPM) at Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics.The results showed that polycarbonate membrane is suitable for quantitative PIGE analysis of light elements,whereas Teflon and quartz filters contain rather high levels of F,Li,B,Na,Mg,Al and Si.The concentrations of F,Na,Mg,Al and Si in PM10 increased greatly during the dust storm period.This study demonstrated that PIGE is an effective method for analyzing light elements in aerosol and dust.
