With circulating water as a link to water, sand, steam and ice for an organic whole, this paper studied the water circulation characteristics and environmental changes of Guliya River and Yarkant River basins in different altitudes. It found that there were characteristic differences of water circulation in the basin at different altitudes, and analyzed the differences in these characteristics. It revealed the reasons for the differences of the water cycle in the basin at different altitudes, and proved the effect of dust on the water cycle in the different altitudes of the basin. From the study of the role of the water cycle in the environment change, it was concluded that sand dust had an important effect on the climate change in the arid region of Northwest China.
