To determine the effect of different plant position on the host selectivity of Frankliniella occidentalis, the number of F. occidentalis on different position of cucumber and responses of F. occidentalis to extractions from different parts of pepper was determined. The result showed that adult F. occidentalis preferred feeding on younger leaves, and the preference to apical and middle leaves was stronger than that to the lower leaves. Female thrips showed intensive preference for extractions from flowers and apical leaves to that of middle and lower leaves, and preferred flowers most.
