Aim To reveal the character of the ancient Hindu mathematics from one aspect. Methods Comprehensive analysis of the literatures, and review on the Kuttaka method by the modem algorithmic theory. Results The general form of the Kuttaka method is given in modem symbols. Conclusion As one of the important methods in the history of Hindu mathematics, Kuttaka reflects one main character of the ancient Hindu mathematics ： attaching importance to the standard algorithm.
