Lithium isotopes 6Li and 7Li are required materials in nuclear fusion reactions.Efficient methods of lithium isotope separation are of great importance for development of nuclear energy.This paper gives an overview of the use of macrocyclic polyethers and macrocyclic polyether polymers as chemical exchangers to separate lithium isotopes through solvent extraction and ion exchange chromatography.It also reviewes the status and development directions of macrocyclic polyethers and their immobilized polymers in lithium isotope separation and analyzes the relative mechanisms.Macrocyclic polyether polymers as chemical exchangers for use in elution chromatography and membrane chromatography should play a key role in the development of lithium isotope separation in the future.
