In clinical practice and experiment,much research had been carried through on the effect of Xiaoyao powder in treating depression in the recent 10 years. Fromthe investigation in epidemiology,as a basic prescription for depression,Xiaoyao powder is widely applied in treating post-stroke depression,postpartumdepression,breast cancer with depression,mild and moderate depression and menopause depression, and has good efficacy. Experimental research also finds that Xiaoyao powder exerts action of anti-depression by affecting neurotransmitter and its receptor, hypothalamic-pituitaryadrenal axis,cellular and molecular mechanisms and cytokine.
