The dust and soot emission data during 2002-2012 in China was collected and the total emission, e- mission per capita, emission intensity, and emission density were analyzed. The Theil index was used to analyze the spatial differences of the above mentioned indicators. The results show that the dust and soot emission in eastern, western and central China demonstrated the trend from increasing to decreasing. The emission per capita showed an elevating trend and the emission intensity took an increasing trend followed by a decreasing trend, and the emission density was declining. The regional difference in emission density was significantly higher than that in emission per capita and emission intensity. For emission per capita, the spatial difference of central and west regions was higher than that of east region and interregional difference. As for the emission intensity and emission density, their interregional difference was greater than their regional difference. The emission density in central and west regions was relatively small, so these two regions can receive further industrial transfer. However, as the emission intensity and the emission per capita were high, the emission intensity of new productivity should be controlled and the spatial balance of industry distribution should be reasonably regulated.
