A theoretical investigation has been undertaken to study the mode coupling and conversion between misaligned cavities due to tilt and offset. The coupling coefficients between the fundamental mode and the low order transverse modes have been expressed as a function of mismatch and relative misadjustment parameters. It was found that the coupling coefficients between even and odd indexed Hermit - Ganssion modes are not zero when misadjustment occurs. The conpiing coefficients between the fundamental mode and the low order transverse modes reach their maximum values when mismatch and relative misadjustment satisfy some conditions.
