Wuzi Yanzong Pill is composed of five medical herbs,Fructus lycii,Semen cuscutae,Fructus schisandrae chinensis,Fructus rubi and Semen plantaginis.Wuzi Yanzong Pill is a kind of frequently-used prescription to treat diseases of male reproductive system because of its function of benei ting essence and marrow and replenishing kidney qi.Wuzi Yanzong Pill can enhance spermatogenesis of testis,regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis function,help anti-aging,antioxidant free radicals and enhance immunity,etc.Its protective effect on the reproductive system and its clinical research progress will be reviewed in this paper.
