The design based on communication protocol of cross layer mechanism,with the goal to optimize the network performance and effective distribution is the key technology to the research of WSN.The network communication protocols based on the existing cross-layer design were reviewed and analyzed,and by focusing on the purpose of cross-layer communication protocols which have been classified to three items： the cross-layer design of improving interoperability and enhancing network for the purpose of adaptability;improving some particular performance standards and design of no layer model.This classification approach helps the network designers to make the design of cross-layer with pertinence and practicability.
