Research activities are an effective way to train innovation potential of undergraduates. In view of the probability theory and mathematical statistics course with wide application background, a teaching form based on small papers is proposed in this paper. And some papers written by students are analyzed, which confirm the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed form of teaching.
