The basic theory of aluminum extrusion process numerical simulation was introduced, including fluid-flow describing methods, material model and constitutive equations, differential control equations, etc. The application of finite element method and finite volume method in aluminum extrusion process numerical simulation was analyzed. Finite volume method manifests its technical priority and gains attention for avoiding mesh-distortion and regeneration with Eulerian description. The research focal point and developing trend of the FEM and FVM application in aluminum extrusion process numerical simulation were proposed.
