China＇s “11th Five-Year Plan” puts forward a planning framework to achieve quantitative indicators of the GDP doubled in 2010, and GDP energy consumption reduced by 20 percent. Energy saving has been promoted into an urgent task of central and local governments＇ economic work. Shanxi provincial communist party committee and government have put forward the objective and task of Shanxi unit energy consumption reduced 25% in the “11th Five-Year Plan” period, in order to achieve sustainable economic development in Shanxi. Shanxi is a major energy province. The industry energy efficiency is not high, which results in the waste of energy, and impedes the rapid and sustainable economic development. This article selects typical data to calculate the energy intensities of industries in Shanxi Province and analyses the efficiency of energy use in Shanxi Province. It also gives suggestions to guide policies at length.
