Yb3+/Er3+ codoped phosphate glass was prepared and its laser properties at continuous wave (CW) pumped by LD were studied at room temperature. The maximum output power 77 mW was obtained at pumping power 496 mW. The slope efficiencies were discussed in different glass sample thickness and different resonance cavity length, and the competing dynamic behavior of various laser modes spectra were discussed in different glass sample thickness at the same pumping power, different pumping power and different resonance cavity length. It was found that the laser spectra were limited by the relative intensity of optical gain and optical loss.
