Using the Grtinwald-Letnikov definition of fractional derivative, a modified alternating direc- tion implicit difference scheme based on the alternating direction method for space fractional telegraph e- quation is considered. It is shown that the method is absolute stable, compatible and unconditional con- vergence by Fourier analysis and Lax theorem. Numerical results demonstrate that the method is effi- cient and reliable.
