An experimental investigation was conducted to explore fundamental characteristics of subcooled boiling in mini-tubes. Several new boiling phenomena or modes were visually observed and described, including boiling initiation, modes transition and dynamical evolution of the phenomena. The characteristics of boiling jet-flow, particularly generation condition, mode, frequency, critical heat flux were experimentally measured and discussed. The parameter influences of subcooling, heat flux and inner diameter were considered to understand the possible physical mechanisms.
