Soil cone index is a very importance parameter for charactering the property of soil quality.The effective technique for measuring cone index will provide the basic information support for the application of precision agriculture and the popularization of conservation tillage.This paper summarized the developmental history of pentrometer-the key technique for measuring cone index,and analyzed its research progress at home and aboard.In the end,the main developmental directions of pentrometer in the future were proposed that combining multi sensors,on board and value simulation.
