Under the same experiment conditions, coal samples with different screening modulus were tested on expansion energy of initial released gas, and then we found out the increased exponential relationship between the screening modulus and the expansion energy of initial released gas. Thi~ is the base to explain the relation between the gas outburst and the broken coal seam when uncovering coal in crosscut rationally. It is also of great significance to determine the value of f inore accurate so that avoiding outburst dangerous, and to forecast the outburst risk when uncovering coal in crosscut.
