The small incision lenticule extraction （SMILE） with femtosecond laser involves creating an intrastromal lentigule by scanning at two different depth in the corneal stroma and making side-cut incisions, followed by separation and complete removal of the lenticule from the small incision. This technique revolutionizes the traditional refractive surgery to achieve ＂ all-in-one＂ , with better security, effectiveness, predictability and stability.
