Chromatographic separation combined with derivatization has been widely used for the analysis of amino acids. In this article, various representative reagents and corresponding derivatization processes are reviewed. The recent applications of defivatization methods for the analysis of amino acids, as well as their pros and cons are comprehensively discussed.
