A novel two-dimensional wave-like Zn complex, formulated as {[Zn(pzdc)(btb)0.5 (H2O)2 ]·H2O}n (H:pzdc = 2, 3-pyrazinedicarboxylic acid, btb = bis(1,2, 4-triazol-1-yl)butane), was synthesized by the self-assembly re-actions of btb and H2 pzdc with zinc nitrates. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the complex displays a 3-con- nected (6 , 3) topology. The central ZnH ions of the compound are assembled into 1D zigzag chains by pzdc2- anions, which are further linked by flexible btb bridges to form a special 2D wave -like layer. And a 3D supramolecular architecture is finally constructed by the iner- and intra-molecular hydrogen bonds of O-H …N and O-H …O. Luminescence and thermogravimetric analyses have also been investigated in detail.
